We have all been sailing through unprecedented times for over a year since the world was hit by the completely unexpected Covid-19 virus. Though it is safe to say that we have come a long way since the initial days of the outbreak, a lot still needs to be done.
Due to the pandemic, businesses, offices, and almost every public place has remained shut for so many months. “Work from home” has become the new normal. Staying home has given us a chance to connect more with our families and pursue new hobbies and interests, but for a lot of people out there, this unforeseen sedentary lifestyle has also adversely affected mental and physical health. And, as our days still continue to look the same, it has become imperative, more than ever, to establish some simple yet substantial changes to our lifestyle for a better, healthier life post Covid-19.
Establish a morning routine
It is easy to give into the temptations of staying in bed a tad bit longer, but whether or not you have the opportunity to step out of your home, make it a habit to wake up early, shower, get dressed, and carry a feeling of normalcy and positivity. If you can’t go for a run or to the gym, find an online workout schedule that suits you and commit to it.
Eat healthy
Remember all those years where you really wanted to fix your diet but couldn’t because of your hectic schedule? Now is the chance to change that. Additionally, we all know by now that our immunity levels play a significant role in keeping us safe against the coronavirus. Also, hydrate yourself regularly.
Maintain a sleep schedule:
The importance of a proper sleep schedule is second to none. Try to get at least seven hours of peaceful, undisturbed sleep. Pro tip: Keep the electronic gadgets far away from your resting space.
Stay informed but don’t overburden yourself
The pandemic has taken many twists and turns in the past so many months. This makes it critical for us to stay updated with the latest discoveries or changes. But, there is a thin line between staying informed and being sucked down the rabbit hole with unnecessary information. Maintain that line.
Set your working hours
Even though you don’t have to work from an office anymore, set your working hours and stick to them. This will help you make time for other activities and not succumb to the pressure of meeting deadlines at the eleventh hour.
Stay connected with your loved ones
Family get-togethers and lunches with your buddies may not be possible as of now, however you can always check up on each other via phone calls, video messages, and texts. Be there for people and let them be there for you.
Ask for help
There is no shame in accepting that you need medical help if you feel anxious, depressed, or any such concerns with your mental health. Remember, you are not alone in this and there are people waiting to help you regain your confidence and happiness again. Give them a chance.
